Our mission from the start was clear: help clients win government business and influence public policy with targeted and effective advocacy and communications strategies. PSG has assisted organizations in building and maintaining strategic relationships, educating stakeholders, communicating value in products and services and developing public policy that advances the mutual interests of its clients and their public sector partners.
Doug has more than two decades of experience in government relations, marketing and public affairs. Prior to founding the Public Sector Group, he spent eight years with North Carolina communications firm Capstrat, serving as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. Doug spent eight years on Capitol Hill as a senior staff member of the U.S. House of Representatives serving Representatives Cass Ballenger (R-NC) and Mel Hancock (R-MO) and focusing on health care, technology, taxation, transportation and international trade.
He later put his government experience to work in the corporate sector. For five years, Doug worked as a government relations, communications and marketing professional for IBM. At IBM he led government relations and communications efforts for public sector industry groups, and managed federal and state government relations in a 15-state region.
Doug has led numerous public affairs campaigns and government relations initiatives in North Carolina and across the country. At the Public Sector Group, he has helped clients land government contracts, stop harmful regulations and enact legislation in an effort to help clients succeed in their public sector objectives.
